Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22nd, 1984 in New York City New York. She is an American actor and singer whose talents have won her recognition across many types of films ranging from thrillers and adventure films to period dramas. Johansson has a father who is a filmmaker and an architect. The family is from New York City. Her twin brother Hunter were the youngest of four siblings. When she was just seven an old, the actress started making auditions for TV commercials. Soon after she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and later went to the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to further hone her craft. In the Off Broadway play Sophistry she co-starred with Ethan Hawke. She then made her first film appearance with North (1994), produced by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson was next seen in Just Cause (1996), however she was Manny & Lo 1996 that made her famous. The film is about two young girls that have fled to escape. For The Horse Whisperer, Johansson played a teenage victim of an incredibly tragic accident. In Ghost World, her role Ghost World brought her more notoriety as the infamous teenager Rebecca.
